PTP contributes to the adult education field through on going research and resource development initiatives.
The Curriculum Guidelines known as Signposts provide instructional ideas and informal assessment activities that allow instructors to program effectively for learners bound for entry level jobs across employment sectors.
The CAMERA (Communication and Math Employment Readiness Assessment) includes a series of standardized tests (CAMERA) and curriculum guidelines with assessment activities for classroom use (Signposts). The CAMERA tests, used in conjunction with Signposts and other workforce literacy resources and materials, provide all the tools a literacy program needs to adequately prepare learners for work.
The workwrite series is a set of instructional workbooks and teachers’ guides focusing on the features and functions of workplace documents. It is a unique resource of materials collected from hundreds of companies in southern Ontario. The workwrite series gives instructors a wealth of activities to help prepare their students for the reading, writing and math encountered in entry-level jobs in the industrial, clerical, retail, and hospitality sectors.
Building for the Future (BFF) is designed as a career exploration resource for adults or youth interested in exploring skilled trades. BFF guides readers through the apprenticeship system in Ontario by engaging them in reflection and research activities. The resource can be used as part of goal-setting, career exploration or skills upgrading programming.
Through research and evaluation, PTP strives to provide the most effective, accessible, integrated and flexible workplace supports to those with literacy and language barriers to employment. To accomplish this, PTP seeks out research opportunities that contribute to the betterment, availability and accessibility of adult literacy programming and workforce training.
