Daniel Boyer – Chair
Dan recognizes PTP as a sector leader with unique offerings, a national voice and the capacity and vision to make positive change. Dan volunteers with PTP so that adults will have access to essential literacy and employment skills so they can find work they love.
Dan is the founder and principal consultant at Dan Boyer Consulting, a boutique consulting firm based in Toronto. Dan promotes innovative practices that demand action, improve outcomes and experiences, and deliver measurable impact for non-profit and public sector organizations. Dan has led projects with senior government and non-profit and public sector leaders in Canada and the United States in client experience design, social enterprising, and strategy development. He has trained non-profit and public sector leaders from Canada, the United States, Germany, England and Australia in non-profit client experience design and social enterprising.
Dan holds an Honours BA from the University of Waterloo and a Dispute Resolution Certificate from York University. Dan is a qualified mediator (Q.Med.) with the ADR Institute of Ontario, GTA Area Committee Member at Legal Aid Ontario, and co-founder of Project Earthscape, a social enterprise that supports urban art initiatives in the GTHA. In past positions, Dan was Instructional Designer and Youth Employment Specialist at Springboard and Youth Programs Director at the City of Waterloo.
Ellamae Chua – Vice Chair
Ella chose to volunteer at PTP in order to contribute to an organization that works toward uplifting people’s lives and she believes that offering her skills as an HR professional would be the best way she could give back to society.
Ellamae holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines and a Postgraduate Certificate in Human Resources Management from Seneca College, Toronto. Her professional experience includes recruitment, and working as an HR Generalist, managing a broad range of HR functions from recruitment, retention, training and performance management – to employee relations, compensation and conflict resolution.
John Ainikkal – Treasurer
John highly values the education he has received, and the opportunities it has provided him through his career. As such, John has chosen to volunteer his time to PTP – an organization that understands the need to educate people so that they can reach their potential.
John is a professional accountant who has extensive experience leading organizations across different continents. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Bombay University, a Masters in Commerce (Hons) degree from the University of Wollongong (Australia), and a CPA designation from both Australia and Canada.
As the general manager of an automotive parts manufacturer, John had successfully turned around that business, setting it up for divestment by the parent company. He has also been involved in academia, teaching university students both Accounting and Information Systems.
John has a passion for mentoring colleagues, always training them to help them improve their skills. This is driven by a strong belief in the need to educate people so that they can reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to the organization.
Jeffrey Ma – Communications Officer
Jeffrey chose to volunteer at PTP because quality work is one of the most fundamental avenues for finding purpose and stability in life. PTP successfully empowers people to learn and find work the value, which is a mission that Jeffrey firmly supports.
Jeffrey is currently Legal Counsel at the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation. Prior to his current position, Jeffrey was an Articling and Summer Student at Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP. Jeffrey has also volunteered and worked for a number of non-profits and startups including his current positions on the Board of Directors of Community Innovation Lab and sitting on the Rotman Commerce Alumni Steering Committee.
Jeffrey holds a J.D./M.B.A. and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto.
Lauren’s interest in PTP stems from a longstanding commitment to community service; experience volunteering with service organizations, community agencies, boards, and board committees. Paired with a strong foundation in the determinants of health, which notes the importance of education and literacy in the ability of individuals to achieve positive health outcomes, she is excited to contribute to an organization focused on improving the social and economic well-being of its participants.
Lauren is a health informatics professional with diverse public healthcare experience. She holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences from Western University and a Master of Health Informatics from the University of Toronto. Her professional roles span positions with public health, St. Michael’s Hospital, University Health Network and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care where she more recently worked as a lead with portfolio responsibilities for provincial ehealth strategy and planning. In her current role as Partnership Lead for Health Quality Ontario, she is responsible for fostering collaborative relationships to build capacity for partnership work and broader partner engagement strategies.
Ellen has always been engaged in her community through volunteering and working with charitable organizations and non-profits. She has chosen to volunteer at PTP because she has a strong interest in education work as she believes education has the power to unlock an individual’s full potential.
Ellen is the co-founder & Chief Operations Officer of SoJo - a social enterprise that finds, prepares and connects young people to use business to improve the world. Prior to SoJo, Ellen was on the Education and Engagement team at the MaRS Centre for Impact Investing, where she was responsible for the development of the Centre’s online knowledge hub and learning modules, and led the Centre’s learning events. In addition she has worked at several web-based nonprofit organizations, serving as the Interim Managing Editor of SocialFinance.ca and Educational Resource Developer at TakingITGlobal for Educators.
Ellen hold a Bachelor of Social Science in International Development and Globalization from the University of Ottawa.
Kevin strongly believes in the ethics of volunteerism. He is actively committed to lifelong learning and empowering individuals to maximize their potential and has always been engaged in his community through initiatives to support the pursuit of academic goals, changing lives and creating a positive social impact.
Kevin has extensive multi-sector experience in strategic planning, sustainable value creation and service delivery, including executive leadership roles with multi-national corporations and Crown agencies. He currently serves as Senior Director at the Local Health Integration Network Shared Services Office. In prior roles, he served as founder and principal consultant for a private consulting firm that provided project and program management services to a range of clients including Fortune 500 companies.
Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of East London, an Executive MBA from Richard Ivey Business School and completed training in Leadership Strategies for Health Information Technology at Harvard University School of Public Health. He holds the professional designation Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute and a Board Diversity Governance Certificate from Ryerson University.
Suthen believes that adult literacy and education will be a key success factor for the Canadian economy as the labour workforce in Canada continues to evolve. Suthen volunteers with PTP as he believes that PTP takes an innovative approach to educate and ensure the success of individuals from all backgrounds.
Suthen is currently a Senior Analyst on the Product Strategy team at Rogers Communications. His experience also includes roles on the Strategic Projects and Merchandise Finance teams at Walmart Canada. He also enjoys playing an active role in the community and has previously volunteered as a board member for the Canadian Tamil Professionals Association.
Suthen holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from York University Schulich School of Business. His specialization is in Finance and International Business. He is also on his way toward qualifying for his Chartered Business Valuator designation, having completed the membership qualification examination in 2016.
Diane has always dedicated herself to volunteering in some capacity for a not for profit organization. Her interest in PTP stems from its spectrum of services in addressing adult workforce development and the potential to create a true impact on social development in Toronto.
She is keenly interested in the PTP 2020 Strategic Vision, its evaluation, and how it will unfold at the service-level to better serve the objectives and mission of the organization.
Specializing in community capacity building, Diane has worked at the community level to build capacity for safe, active, and engaged communities through strategy planning and involvement with community based initiatives. Her work includes developing a strategy for community hub to support residents and service agencies in developing solutions.
Diane holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Calgary and a Master of Planning, Health and Social Planning from Queen’s University.
