Oral Communication Skills at PTP
Centre Meeting at PTP has become an excellent opportunity for some students to practice and develop their communication skills and overcome their fear of speaking to a large group. The students’ participation ranges from hosting the meeting, giving short announcement about Events group or other teamwork classes to presenting a speech using MS PowerPoint. The students get prepared through a few small group rehearsals as well as the instructor’s and classmates’ feedback before they actually present at the Centre Meeting, which includes all the students and staff. For the PowerPoint presentation, students select a topic of their own interest, which is informational, inspirational and relevant to PTP students. Centre Meeting is not only an opportunity to improve students’ communication skills but also a chance to boost their self-confidence and self-esteem. Here are two PowerPoint presentation examples delivered by Marie Cormier and Dolly Deonarine on May 19, 2010 at PTP East centre.
