Pre-culinary program
Are you interested in cooking? Want to improve your literacy? PTP and George Brown College are providing a pre-culinary program that offers an opportunity to improve your basic culinary and literacy skills. Students will come away from the class with a personalized action plan, experience in an authentic kitchen setting, and course work which will set them on a path to further education or employment.
The 21 week program runs from February 1, 2010 to June 25, 2010. Courses will be delivered at Foodshare, located at 90 Croatia Street, near Dufferin Station.
Basic Culinary Skills
- Working in an authentic kitchen setting
- Safety and nutrition
- Using basic recipes and ingredients
Literacy Skills
- Reading
- Communications
- Numeracy
To qualify you must be:
- Interested in exploring training and/or job opportunities in the food services sector
- Able to commit to a full time 5 days per week program
- 19 years and older
Information sessions will be held at George Brown College at 200 King Street East at these times:
- Tuesday, Jan. 19 1-2 pm, Room 387C
- Thursday Jan. 21, 1-2 pm, Room 358E
- Monday Jan. 25, 1-2 pm, Room 595F
