Visit to the National Film Board
Last Thursday, February 26th, students from the LBS classes at PTP West visited the National Film Board.
February was Black History Month, and we spoke about visiting the National Film Board in class. We made a decision to go. Last Thursday, we met at PTP, and took the subway downtown. It was my first time at the Film Board. We arrived a little bit early, so some of us went off to have a snack before the films started.
At eleven we met again. At the NFB, you have lots of films to choose from. They had a special selection of films for Black History Month. We all chose different films to watch. Some films were only fifteen minutes, and some were an hour or more.
The first film I watched was about blacks working on the railways. Back in Nova Scotia, I knew two people who had worked on the railways when they were younger. The second film I saw was about a mother and her daughter. I recognized people I knew in the two films I saw!
We spent about three hours at the National Film Board. It was really something to see. I really enjoyed seeing that part of black history.
