On Friday, January 30th, Laurel Broten, the MPP for Etobicoke-Lakeshore visited PTP’s West Centre to meet with participants and staff. During her visit, Laurel acknowledged the relevance and importance of adult literacy and job search programs in the current economic climate. She chatted with members of our LBS classes and job seekers in our Job Solutions program about the challenges and concerns they currently face, and answered questions about the direction of local government policies and their relation to our particiapants’ everyday lives.
Students also took the opportunity to help themselves to a mid-morning breakfast break during Laurel’s visit. Photos from her visit are below; click on a photo to see a larger version.
