Working with the Bits and Bites team

“I work at Bits and Bites. I work on the cash register. My job is to serve the customers. I scan the items and I stock the shelves and the fridge and I talk to the customers. I give the customers the items and I give them their change. My job is very interesting and I get along with everyone. It is a good experience for me. I get along with the staff. They help me a lot. I like my job very much.

I went to the shop to buy some chips and trail mix. We had to weigh them and put them into the bag. Each bag weighed 80 grams. Then we had to seal up the bags. We took some pictures of the trail mix. It was a busy day.” – Shirlene

Bits and Bites is part of the Teamworks component in the Literacy and Basic Skills program. The Bits and Bites team manages a small snack shop that serves the participants and staff at PTP West. Members of the team sign up for shifts, purchase and repackage items for resale, and make sales using a Point of Sale system. Below are some pictures of the team at work.
